During the State of the County Address in January 2015, President Dave Cortese called on the Santa Clara County Health and Hospital System to conduct a new assessment of the health of children in our county. A child’s health plays a vital role in their development throughout their lifetime. Today’s children are the future community leaders, elected officials, and workforce in Santa Clara County. The information we learn through this assessment will help us provide what our children need today to achieve their full potential in the future.
Just a few minutes of your time can help make Santa Clara County a healthier place for all children. The Santa Clara County Public Health Department is conducting a survey to find out about the health needs of the children in Santa Clara County. The survey will begin from February through May 2016. If you receive a phone call or letter from the Public Health Department, please PARTICIPATE! All information provided is confidential. If you have any questions about the survey, please visit www.sccphd.org or contact The-Vu Nguyen from the Office of Supervisor Dave Cortese at 408-299-5030 or [email protected]. Notice: Please help us to forward this message to everyone on your email list, and post it on all the online forums. As robots become more and more a part of everyday life, students in Bob Smith’s 10th grade Introduction to Engineering class had the opportunity to spend some time over the last couple of weeks learning about the fundamentals of robotics. Student teams constructed their own robots, then manipulated them to accomplish simple tasks in order to develop a hands on understanding of the basics of robotics. Students’ robots then compete in a game of “clean your room” requiring the robots to remove objects from their portion of the playing field while adding objects to their opponents’. Students say the unit is the most complex and, at the same time, most fun project they have experienced in the Engineering Program at Milpitas High.
